We’re back! After a quick holiday hiatus and some very cold weather the 7th Street Mural Project is moving forward!
Thanks to some hard work and generous donations from our friends and partners, we were able to secure scaffolding for the site.
Wednesday, February 5th from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Join our muralist Serina and several others, in laying down some serious paint! We’ll be located on 7th Street between Santa Clara St. and San Fernando St. All hands are welcome! Depending on the weather we may even paint until later. Please join us in this amazing project!

The art was amazing, the performers sublime, the Night of Creative Empowerment III was inspiring. Thank you to everyone who joined Women Rising and Backwater Arts Gallery for this unique event.
We hope everyone who attended felt inspired and empowered and we want to thank everyone who was involved in this incredible effort!
We are happy to announce that our event gained widespread recognition throughout the community and we have received amazing feedback from artists and community members who have been longing for just such an organization to host spaces for female artists.
In addition the night raised $619 which will go directly to funding our Mural Projects in the downtown area. Artists and the spaces are all on board and now with the funds provided we are ready to put the pedal to the medal. If you are interested in volunteering your time and/or painting skills to these amazing murals please email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Thank you again to all the amazing and talented people who made this event possible!
Serina Serjama, an artist-muralist, has partnered with Women Rising and the San Jose Peace & Justice Center to create a mural at the Pomegranate Cafein downtown San Jose. Serina, Women Rising, and SJP&JC are donating their time and talent to creating a piece that will educate, promote, and create a space for discussion on various women issues. As well as honoring revolutionary women from all over the world who inspire us in the women’s movement for justice and equality.
The mural will be featured on the side of Pomegranate Cafe, located on 5th Street and San Fernando. We are currently working on 3 designs, which residents will be invited to help pick the final design.
This project cannot get underway without your help. If you would like to donate supplies, volunteer/get involved with the project, or make a monetary contribution please contact Women Rising at email@example.com.
